Science

At St. Martin’s, we aim to nurture naturally inquisitive, curious and enthusiastic learners who embrace the wonders of the world around them. We inspire a sense of fascination about the phenomena of daily life, fostering a lifelong love of exploration, discovery and a passion for science.

Our science curriculum centres on developing scientific thinking through inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiments and encouraging students to become questioning, critical and creative problem-solvers.  We want every child to be excited by scientific ideas, motivated to understand, question, explain and analyse, cultivating not only scientific skills but also independent and collaborative learning skills that can be translated across the curriculum.

Our goal is to build a solid foundation of key knowledge and concepts that empower children to confidently discover and explore the world.  We ensure that children's conceptual understanding is progressively developed alongside their working scientifically skills.  This allows them to conduct experiments, make predictions, from evidence-based arguments and explain concepts in a progressively deeper and more meaningful way.

We intend to drive ambition in our learners through science lessons that are engaging, memorable and relevant.
